Get a smoother, factory-style cabinet finish that stays smooth after paint.

Cabinet Mud is a cabinet-specific grain filler for oak and other open-grain cabinets. It fills deep pores, sands easily, and helps create a flatter surface before primer and paint so grain does not keep showing back through later.

If you're painting oak cabinets and want a smoother final result, this is the step that makes the difference.

Most DIY kitchens should start with the 500g Package (standard kitchen). Choose the 250g Package for smaller projects and vanities, and the 750g Package for larger kitchens, heavier grain, or projects where you're also filling box areas.

Choose Your Size

  • 250g Package (small kitchens, vanities) — best for vanities, furniture, touch-ups, and smaller cabinet projects
  • 500g Package (standard kitchen) — best for most kitchens and the most common DIY cabinet projects
  • 750g Package (large kitchen) — best for larger kitchens, heavier grain, or projects where you're also filling box areas

Why DIYers Use Cabinet Mud

  • Fills deep oak grain and open pores
  • Sands easily to a smooth feathered edge
  • Dries stable with minimal shrink-back
  • Stays put under water-based primers
  • Made for painted cabinets, not drywall repair or auto body work

Best For

  • Oak kitchen cabinets
  • Bathroom vanities
  • Built-ins and furniture
  • Any open-grain wood surface you plan to prime and paint

How To Use It

  1. Clean and prep the surface first
  2. Mix Cabinet Mud to a smooth, spreadable consistency
  3. Work it into the grain and scrape off the excess
  4. Let it dry fully
  5. Sand smooth
  6. Prime and paint

Real customer result: One customer used about 1.5 of the 250g bags on a 22-door kitchen and said the finish looked fantastic.
