Kitchen Cabinet Guide Part 5: The Best Sprayer for Kitchen Cabinets

If you want a professional-looking finish on your cabinets that is smooth and glassy, then you’re going to have to purchase a sprayer and learn how to use it.

In Part 6 I’m going to cover mastering your sprayer to get the best results, but today, I simply want to tell you about my personal favorite sprayer for the DIYer painting their cabinets.

I HIGHLY recommend the Wagner FLEXiO 5000 HVLP paint sprayer.

This sprayer is inexpensive, but still gives you professional results. I don’t say this lightly either - like in this recent video - I use the FLEXiO 5000 all the time on high-end paying client’s homes, and they ❤️ their cabinets.

Yes, you can buy this sprayer from Amazon and get free shipping.  But I'll match Amazon and we have free shipping too.

What Amazon CANNOT give you is support.  Arguably, there is nobody in the world who uses this sprayer more than I do.  I use it professionally on nearly all of my cabinet jobs even though it's a consumer-grade sprayer.  I do this to show DIYer how to achieve professional results.

I offer unlimited email support for any issues you have with this sprayer for three months after purchase.  Just reply to your original order confirmation email with ANY questions you have.

The FLEXiO 5000 is my favorite sprayer for the DIYer for multiple reasons. Here are a few:

#1 - It’s Inexpensive for a Sprayer

You can purchase this sprayer for $225-$255, which is incredible for a sprayer that can handle high-end coatings!

#2 - The FLEXiO 5000 Atomizes Enamels Beautifully!

I am able to achieve a glass-like finish when using this sprayer.

I have videos on my YouTube channel explaining exactly how to set up the FLEXiO 5000 to get the best finish possible.

#3 - The Turbine is Separate from the Spray Gun

Many cheaper HVLP sprayers have their wind turbines built directly onto the spray gun. This makes them heavy and can wear down your shoulder. It also makes it hard to get into tight spaces.

The FLEXiO 5000’s turbine is separate from the spray gun and built into the the sprayer’s carrying case, which attaches to the spray gun with a 11.5’ hose. This makes the gun smaller and lighter for much better control and less fatigue.

#4 - The Design Features Forward-Thinking Ergonomics

The FLEXiO 5000 has a switch on the paint gun that allows you to turn the wind turbine on and off right from the gun, which I love and use constantly!

It also all packs conveniently into the carrying case which also houses the turbine, making storage and transport incredibly easy.

#5 - Versatility

Lastly, The FLEXiO 5000 Is quite versatile.

While I think this sprayer is perfect for painting kitchen cabinets using the Detail Finish nozzle, it also comes with the iSpray nozzle that sprays thicker materials at a faster rate.

This allows you to use the sprayer on broad surfaces for other small to medium projects like painting a ceiling, staining a deck, painting a shed, painting furniture, and more.

That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for larger projects like a whole interior or exterior, just to be clear.

Wrapping Up

While there are many great sprayers that can work for painting kitchen cabinets, I believe that the FLEXiO 5000 is the best bang for your buck if you’re a DIYer or even a contractor looking for a lower-cost sprayer.
